My partner and I recently finished renovating our resale condo with Zhi Wei from The Three Masons. It was almost a full renovation: new kitchen and bathrooms, false ceilings with cove lighting, carpentry in every room, and more. We wanted a warm, wabi-sabi inspired home, and that’s exactly what we got. We’re so happy with the whole experience that we wanted to write a proper review.

We left our first meeting with Zhi Wei with a good impression, but we didn’t want to raise our hopes too high. When we went back to his office for the initial quotation, he had already built a 3D model of our plans in SketchUp. Not many IDs would go that far before you’ve even signed, and it told us a lot about the kind of work he would do. In every meeting after that, we kept referring to the model, and he made live changes on the spot so we could see each option straight away. That made decisions easy and quick. Meetings were easy to arrange, and he was happy to meet on weekends since we both work on weekdays. One session even ran for seven hours, and it was productive the whole way through. That says a lot about how engaging he is and how much detail we managed to work through with him.

Because we started early, the planning never felt rushed, and we were able to nail down almost every detail before reno work began. Whenever we found inspiration photos and sent to him asking about feasibility and cost, he would get back to us quite quickly. If it was easier to reply in other modes, he would do a screen recording while referencing the 3D model or via a voice note over WhatsApp to explain.

He also documented everything really well. We received a separate plan for each layer of work: flooring, painting, layout, electrical and carpentry. Each plan went through our feedback until we were happy with it. Now that we live here, there isn’t a single switch we wish were somewhere else. His carpentry drawings were very detailed too, which allowed us to visualize and give out feedback in a back-and-forth manner until we're satisfied. The execution was exactly as we discussed. I have met the carpenters a few times during the renovation and they have been very friendly and helpful.

Slightly prior to the renovation, he shared a Gantt chart in Google Sheets showing what would happen each day and week. The plan was 2.5 months plus a 1 to 2 week buffer for touch-ups. We finished on time and never needed the buffer. Small issues were sorted out without delaying the rest of the schedule. He also fitted our own vendors (vinyl, limewash, aircon and doors) into his timeline and helped coordinate some of them. He sent progress photos regularly, and whenever we spotted something on site, a WhatsApp photo was all it took for it to be fixed fast. The Gantt chart was updated regularly as the renovation work progressed.

He usually replied within 10 minutes, even late at night and on weekends, which we never asked of him. He was always patient, and no question was too silly.

We were reassured by the quality of the materials too: Excel soft-closing hinges and E0 plywood with low formaldehyde, at a very competitive price. His quotation was fully itemised, with the material and unit price for each line and nothing lumped into packages, plus a few items thrown in free of charge. He also told us honestly what was and wasn’t worth paying for.

His service didn’t drop off after handover either. He stayed in touch while we finished a few carpentry rectifications and paint touch-ups.

Zhi Wei got all the fundamentals right, consistently, from our first meeting to after handover. That’s what made our renovation easy and genuinely enjoyable, and it felt more like working with a friend than hiring an ID. We came across to know The Three Masons through my brother in law. Very thankful to have Marcus as our ID and glad that they accepted our engagement even though it is a minor project for our existing 5 rooms flat.

I was recommended by future neighbours and we check few quotation from different company, they the lowest amount but it didn’t come out lesser quality or Service, it exceeded my expectation for the price..I had Renov before previous flat with other ID, this time it’s better experience and nicer design..

My ID Zhi Xiong is the most patient and detailed what I request or enquire he will 100% help me and we rushing to move in because 7th month and our old place sold need a place to stay asap, he help and arrange all for us to move in as soon as possible, as for design he told us which colour matching, which is not and went showflat with us and advise all the colour to choose to match better, experience ID, picture speak of itself (do open image to see the whole living room), friend and others came and surprise at the amount paid and result saying it nice place, me and my family stay home more now because it really comfortable designed.. carpentry is also very friendly, lucky get to engage 3 Manson …highly recommended

We engaged and compared a few interior designers before choosing Three Masons, and Paul immediately impressed us with his ability to create 3D designs of our preferred home concept within just a few minutes. This gave us a clear visual of how our house could look and helped us make decisions with greater confidence.
